Teach children about other countries (children’s book giveaway)

I love Paris. Sounds way too cliché, I know. How could anybody not love it, especially when we live so far away from it? I recently learned a few things I did not know about Paris. For example, that Paris is called “the city of light”. I had no idea, even though I have been to Paris before.

I learned it from a children’s book, the book about Paris, which is fun and educational. It teaches about French art, culture, places of interest, French food, and distinctive features of Paris, like street artists.

The book I was reading with my preschooler is Adventures of Bella and Harry: Let’s Visit Paris

Lisa Manzione skillfully captures the spirit of Paris as she leads us though an adventure of two Chihuahuas in Paris.

Beautifully illustrated, the book reminded me of visiting Louvre, admiring the Arc de Triomphe, and strolling though Champs-Elysees (right, only strolling, I never dared to actually buy anything there).

I am looking forward to reading Lisa Manzione’s  Let’s visit Venice, which comes out this month, and Let’s visit London which will be available in August.

“All of my children’s books take place in a different country, and that’s on purpose,” Lisa says. “Children need to learn at an early age that the world is a big place, and if they are ever going to understand their place in the world, it is probably a good idea that they know more about it than what’s in their own backyard.”

With the help of this book, your kids can learn not only about places to see, art, culture, and food in Paris, but also several words and phrases in French. Even though you may not be ready for a definitive answer to “Parle-vous Francais?”, this book is a great start to learning another language.
