Product by Product to Real Food. Series. Part 4 (Tortillas and Salsa)
May 5, 2010 | Filled under Real Food |
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, this one is about Tortillas and Salsa:
Salsa: The only thing I check on Salsa is corn syrup. Most of the brand names Salsas are corn syrup free. Publix Salsa also has no preservatives or corn syrup.
Tortillas: this one is complicated. I have not been able to find tortillas without mono-glycerides or preservatives in the conventional super market/grocery store. I diligently checked every single kind of Tortillas both on the shelf and in the refrigerated section. Nothing. Even the Whole Wheat ones have mono-glycerides. So, for tortillas and sandwich wraps, I go to Whole Foods store. Have you tried Naturally Delicious Cedars Spinach Wraps? It totally meets my checklist requirements. There are no preservatives, mono-glycerides, and the flour is unbleached. If you buy five of their products, you can get one free T-shirt.
