Children’s Cardboard Playhouse

“What a beautiful house we built!” exclaimed my almost-three-year-old daughter first thing in the morning as she ran to admire our art project.

This indeed, has been our biggest and most creative art project. Two days in a row kids have been decorating their new mansion.

Honestly, I was a little scared about putting the house together when I unpacked several sheets of folded cardboard. The trick was to fold the cardboard along the folded lines and insert cut out flaps in the holes. The kids could not wait. They tried to run between the boards knocking them down.

However, it took only a few minutes to put the house together. I did not need any tools, glue, or tape.  And here it was, ready for the kids to take over:

The best part is when the house is ready, the kids could personalize it with paint, stickers, foam cutouts, crayons, craft pom poms, tape, and everything else they found in our craft box. I thought the kids will spend most of the time playing inside the house. Instead, they kept decorating it inside and outside. They have been really busy.

Decorating progress during Day number 2:

We liked that there are two doors and two windows in the house which makes it easy for two kids to play.

I was impressed how sturdy the house was. We moved it multiple times from living room where they played, to the kitchen where they painted. The house held up just fine.

After my kids were done decorating it, they moved in. Now there is a blanket, a pillow, and a floor brush with a dustpan to keep it clean.

The proud owners were happy to show off  two sides of their new creation:

This side featured a lot of butterflies:

The kids were particularly excited to play with the mailbox. Pretend envelopes and packages kept coming in:

I would think we will keep it in the same room because the house is not designed to be taken apart and be put together back quickly. The house can be played with only indoors since it will likely to lose its real estate value after the rain.

This Cardboard Playhouse as well as other playroom items by Cascades are made from recycled cardboard. Other products include Cardboard Playroom Table and Cardboard Children’s Chairs. The table and chairs are 100% recyclable and can be used to make other recycled products, thus continuing the recycling cycle.
